This article gives you powerful motivation to feel good about English grammar. Find out why learning grammar is super useful, really efficient and something you're really good at!

When I say 'English grammar' to you, how do you feel? Stressed about getting it right? Guilty about not studying more? Frustrated by boring grammar exercises?

If you have a love–hate relationship with English grammar, you're not alone. Lots of people feel as if they should study English grammar. But they don't really know why.

This article tells you exactly that. I'm going to give you three big reasons to love English grammar. Read this for powerful grammar motivation!

Three big reasons to love English grammar

1. It's super useful!

Grammar gives you rules and patterns for making sentences. It helps you make sure your words have the right effect on the person you're talking to.

Grammar also helps you make sense of what you hear and read. Is this person being polite? How probable is this situation? When did this happen?

The answers are all in the grammar.

2. It's super efficient!

Knowing just one grammar rule helps you make thousands of original sentences. I'll show you what I mean.

Do you know the third person 's' rule for present tense verbs? I work, you work, he/she/it workS, right?

I bet you know the negative too. I don't hate grammar, you don't hate grammar, he/she doESn't hate grammar. Great!

Well, over 60 per cent of spoken communication in English is in the present tense. So think how far just knowing that one rule – the third person 's' – will get you!

One rule = the basis of over half the sentences you need to say in English. That means learning grammar is a really efficient way to learn a language.

3. Your adult brain is good at this!

Adult learners are good at grammar. Your adult brain has already developed the thinking skills you need to understand and use grammar rules. That means you learn faster with the help of explanations from a teacher or book.

It has been proved that adults learn sentence structure in a new language faster than children. Yes, it's true! If you don't believe me, read this.

But you only learn English faster when you actually study grammar.

So use those skills! Let's get your powerful adult brain on this! When you study English grammar, you'll learn the language faster.

It’s a great question and at the same time attracts my attention too. For me I have a mixed relationship with English grammar you asked me why?!? It depends on a statement itself. If is it easy one I start feeling love with it. But if is it a difficult one directly getting panicked. By the time and through online exercises I used to English grammar and I started feeling that we knew each other.
