My New Year's resolutions

by Darren

I like to start every year with my New Year's resolutions. Then I read them next 1 January and see how well I did!

Here are my resolutions this year.

1. Get fit!!

I say this every year but I hope writing it in public will make it more real. I'm aiming for three runs a week – I think I can do it! I think a fitness tracking app might help me achieve it. Or I could find a running partner. If anyone who's reading this wants to be my partner, let me know!

2. Save 10 per cent of my salary a month

Having no savings is starting to worry me and 10 per cent is realistic. It's not too much, but it's not too little that I won't see it add up. I'll put the money into a special bank account that will make it grow … Actually, I don't know much about that so maybe my next resolution should be to find out how to invest money!!

3. Cook more

I'd like to start inviting friends for dinner and cooking for them. I think once a month is a good plan. By the end of the year I want to have five dishes I can cook really well so people will say, 'Have you ever had Darren's delicious cooking?' Who wants to be my first guest?

Tips

  1. Before you start a writing task, make a plan. First, write down lots of ideas you could include. Then choose the best and most interesting ones.
  2. Don't write all your ideas in one section. Make one section for each idea. Write a heading for each section to show the reader what it's about.
  3. Think about who is going to read the text and choose the style accordingly. For your classmates, use an informal and clear style.
  4. Keep your reader interested by talking directly to them, e.g. by asking a question.
  5. When you have finished your writing, read it and check it for mistakes.

My new year's resolution, I do not really like new year's resolutions. I prefer form a habit. However, writing down can be better than keeping in mind. Here are my resolutions this year. 1. Improve health I mean physical and mental health. I will do more exercises such as badminton, swimming and I will start to run. About mental health, I will track my period closely and observe my mind, meditate, rest, enjoy the nature and feed my mind with the "healthy food". 2. Practice English writing That is the reason I learn here. I want to improve my level from Intermediate to Advance. I want to do more but I believe less is more. In summary, I want to invest in myself as much as possible. LOVE YOURSELF!

Yes , but I never keep them. My next year's resolutions will be; 1- To join the gym for my fitness. 2- To save some money for the future. 3- To buy a new car. 4- To do further studies. 5- To perform the pilgrimage to Makkah.

I have never written New Year’s Resolutions, as most of the time my plans might change abruptly!!! However I hope writing it in public will make it more real))) 1. CPD Since lockdown I have met so many amazing people who influenced me to rethink my own life. Then I realized how self-development is crucial. So, I am gonna hit the book again and do my master degree! 2. Study new languages Apart from English which I am aiming to ace to C2, I will continue my second passionable language - German! 3. Learn new stuff Lately I have noticed that I hate being stuck in a rut, which brings only boredom and loneliness, so I need to socialize and learn something new. I want to start with new activities, such as yoga and cooking!

I have never made a New year Resolution. I will write one for the classes. Being more Active during cool weather I use to stay at home for days and days, especially during winter or when the days are cool. I need to be part of one club or group that like to practice one sport or outdoor activity. Improve my English I have spoken during years the English language but no in the right way. Even during my jobs I have had some kind of disadvantages. It seem to be the moment to improve it.

At the end of every year we are required to make a summary about the past year and a new year's resolution. I would like to think about my own's next year resolution here. 1. Always keep fit As age pass by I hope to keep a proper body shape even when I was fifty or sixty years old. I am aiming to exercise at least three times a week, especially Yoga exercise to ease my pressure from work or family. 2. Try my best to find a new job I have been working at my current company for about ten years now and I have not received a salary raise for three years. I think I should go out to have some new views about myself from other company. I cannot stand counting days to waste my time from now on. Well, actually I don't well know my current level for a new position, but why do not try, I believe I could achieve myself through an equitable platform. 3. Be an elegant beauty One day of this year I suddenly realized I shouldn't be an out of fashion lady anymore as I'm already thirty years old. And I found that I knew little about makeup skill after jointing a makeup class. Hoping in the near future I could be an elegant beauty in the public through my daily practicing.

No, I don't generally but I will do this year for next year. My next year resolutions are: 1. Improve your English and German I think it is the best year to improve my languages and for this reason I will start a German course. I have a English course also. 2. Bring good marks I want to better marks than this year. ( Actually this year is very well too.) So I will study a lot this year. 3. Read a lot I couldn't read a lot this year because I was preparing an important exam. But I think next year no one and no reason can stop me. 4. Have a healthy lifestyle I want to lose some weights and I will get healhty habits. For instance, I won't eat sugar except of celebrities.

I used to write new years resolutions but I failed to follow and when I fail to follow my resolution it makes me sad and disappointing on myself, that's why I stop writing. Instead, I write recaps of the year at the end of December, it's more fun to write and make me wanna do better in the coming year.

Telling the truth, I've never made any New Year's resolutions writing them down on the paper. Of course, the New Year's eve - the best time not only to make wishes but also to make some important plans and self-promises for the next 365 days. Every year these days I also make some resolutions. Some of them are quite small and simple but some are global and more important. I definitely try to realize most of them with mixed success though)) If I didn't do something? Well, you always can add old promises to the new list.
