So cool to read about everyone's home tradition they miss the most! I'm from England but I've been living in the States for five years and the thing I miss the most is Bonfire Night on November 5th.

The best thing about Bonfire Night is the fireworks, oh, and the bonfires! … and the history behind it. Basically, Guy Fawkes and his friends tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament and kill King James I. They nearly did it too – they hired a room under the House of Parliament and filled it with explosives. But someone told the royal palace. The authorities found Guy Fawkes in the room guarding the explosives, and he was sentenced to torture and death.

So it's a tradition that celebrates the fact that the king survived. It also means people don't forget what happens if you plot against your country. There's a kind of poem about it that starts 'Remember, remember the fifth of November, gunpowder, treason and plot.' That's why we build a 'guy' – a life-size model of Guy Fawkes – and burn it on the bonfire. Pretty dark and horrible when you think about it!

Tips

  1. It's nice to start by saying something that shows you have read other people's posts.
  2. In a class forum you can be quite informal.
  3. In informal writing you can sometimes miss out the beginning of a phrase:

  4. Remember, in a forum you are part of a long conversation with a lot of other people so they might ask you questions.

We have many traditional festivals per month in my country. One of them, I like ThinGyan festival which is held in the middle of April. It is the most famous festival in my country and we have long vacation for this festival. In this festival, we poured the water each other that means if we have bad faith, we wash them with this water. And then It is new year festival for my country. We start the next year with good luck. It means like that.

Hello everyone, I'm new member. So exicted to say my country traditional festival. It's Thidinkyut Festival, to welcome our Buddha with candles. Every house in my country catch fire to the candles and pays his desires. It is very beautiful and happy. I love it very much.

Hello there, I'm from Algeria, which has a variety of cultures and traditions. The tradition I like the most is..., actually we didn't give it a name yet. The night before the wedding, the groom and his close friends have diner and tea. With a lot of activities, for instance everyone should tell a joke. If no one laughs at one joke, there is a kind of funny punishment.

In fact many media this develloped that can have advantages but also disadvantages like a fake news. Eventually we can create a channel a channel for each theme (sport,politics...) to find out what they want to learn.

Hi guys, really nice to read about all of your fancy traditions, it's a lot of good time and things that you could pass to your children. I'm from Paris and I couldn't talk a lot about traditions, I think we are losing it more and more and it's a bit sad. So keep your traditions alive, it's very important.

in saudi arabia ramadan's coming is the beggest traditonal party that muslims have it's because ramadn is once in a year and it's a whole month where pepole fast from the morning to the eveining and i don't want to talk about the foods that we ate after fasting they are delious there are 2 types of food that we eat only in ramadan we rarley eat it in normal days one is called sambosa and the other is loghimat that's the best month of tghe year you have to be tired but if you ate all of your tire is gone

in our country we have a tradition called shm alnesem it's on April 4th we celebrate the beginning of spring by eating a special type of fish also we color the egg surface it is the day of relaxing and calming down

Hi,everyone i am glad to see different and interesting facts and information from different countries and cultures.Getting know with other cultures give a mindset about country to the reader of it.It is also important to know about different cultures in the business sector especially if the person is expatriate worker for the company.Understanding people from different cultures can avoid huge misunderstandings while communicating people from different countries.It is somehow learning about new language.As great writer Dostevski said "Having second language means having second soul"

It´s good to know about your traditions, my international friends. Here in Spain, we have a funny tradition on Dicember 28 th. It´s called Día de los inocentes (innocent´s day). The reason why its so funny its because you have to fool people as original as you can. I am going to give you an example in order to you understand it easily: - Hey David, I saw your girl kissing another boy yesterday... I´m so sorry dude. - No way my friend, I really trusted her... I´m devastated... - Don´t worry dude, all of this it´s a prank! Innocent!! (Inocente!!!). It´s not the most original example but I hope you already know what our tradition is about. Yeah i reall understand what you mean.In Azerbaijan we celebrate similar one on 1 April.It is called as "lying day" and we also can make lies to our friends or our relatives,family members.But the main difference is that when we get people "Innocente" we can get anything we want from them.
