Subject: 32 Acacia Avenue electricity problem

Dear Sam,

I'm writing on behalf of myself and my flatmates about Number 32 Acacia Avenue as we've been having problems with the electricity.

We noticed that if we use more than one appliance at night when the lights are on, the power cuts out. This means that we can't use the dishwasher at the same time as the oven, for example. For a while we have been careful but recently we have found that even in the daytime, more than one machine running can cause a power cut. Occasionally, the power cuts out for no obvious reason.

We know the electrician who came before couldn't find anything wrong, but please can someone come again as the problem is getting worse? If it would be easier, we can arrange an electrician ourselves and send you the bill.

Kind regards,

Eloisa

Tips

  1. To email someone who's not a friend, use a neutral style and polite tone.
  2. Start the email with Dear … , not Hi. End it with Kind regards or just Regards.
  3. Organise your email in three paragraphs:
    • why you're writing
    • the problem
    • what you want the solution to be
  4. Keep it short and simple. Only include the important information.
  5. Put specific information in the subject line. Don't just put Problem.

  • Have you ever had a bad experience in rented accommodation?
  • Yes, I have had a bad experience in rented accommodation. On the first day, the landlord told me that I didn’t need to pay for the water bill. However, after five months, he told me that I had to pay a bill with a large amount of money.

I have problems with accomodation right now, but we will move after two weeks so I don't want to solve them) Faucet in the bath is leaking. We could call our landlord to send someone to fix it but I don't want anyone to disturb us.

Subject: problems with mosquitoes

Dear mr Caracciolo,

During the last summer we had some problems with mosquitoes that have grown in number and we can not sleep at night.

We tried to organize ourselves with poisons and artisanal solutions, but without success.

We ask if it is possible to put mosquito nets on the windows

Kind regards

Federico

Subject: 26 Flowers Avenue issue with an air conditioner

Dear Emir,

I'm writing on behalf myself and my roommate about Number 26 Flowers Avenue as we've been having issue with an air conditioner.

Me and my roommate noticed that if we turn on the air conditioner, it doesn't give cold. In our opinion, there is no  antifreeze in the air conditioner. Occasionally, antifreeze should be pored into the air conditioner. Therefore, I think you should call a technician. If it would be easer, I can arrange the technician myself and then I sent you the bill.

Kind regards,

Katy

Dear Sara,

I'm writing on behalf of myself and my roommates. We've been having a problem with the air-conditioning. The appliance is not working properly, when we turn it on, it's not freezing,on the contrary, it's getting hot.

Then, we hope we can find a solution about this. If it is not a problem for you, we can call an electrician and send you the bill.

Kind regards,

Pedro.

Dear Ivy,

I'm writing on behalf of myself about the Amber building as we've been having problems with the door's bell.

I noticed that when I started living in this room, I didn't have any chance to inform this problem as I was busy with my studying. As you know, door knocking is prohibited in this dorm. Therefore, the door bell is essential for us to know someone is waiting in front of the main door. I have already changed the battery on the door bell, and it doesn't work. Please, send someone to repair the door bell for me. If it could be easier, I could arrange a repair man myself and send you the bill.

Kind regards,

Steven
