can anyone tell me why every sentence in the second task is present-simple?

we use present simple sentences in repetitive action.

It's actually a convention that we use present for questions like this or in puzzles or other games. Other forms are possible but less common and generally used only when we need to emphasise a particular part of the meaning (an action being unfinished, for example). We also use present simple when commentating on a sports match, for example.
